AB715 (and SB48) Signed into law

8 Oct 2025 11:11 PM | Anonymous

We are excited to hear that AB715 has been signed into law by Governor Newsom!

As it turned out much of the testimony against AB715 demonstrated why the bill, which established training opportunities appointed an antisemitism prevention coordinator was necessary.

Thanks to your tireless work, AB715 and SB48 (which established a California Department of Education Office of Civil Rights) were signed into law together by Governor Newsom. The bills create new accountability systems, require stronger responses to antisemitism, harassment, and discrimination, and support every student in learning in a school free from fear or prejudice.

Thanks to your hard work, and that of the Legislative Jewish Caucus, JPAC, our Jewish Federations and StandWithUs, Assemblymembers Zbur and Addis were able to put together a hard-won victory in getting this landmark legislation passed.

A special thank you to Senate President McGuire and Speaker Rivas for personally taking on this legislation to get it passeed, as well as the Education committee chairs.
